Appearance Description: Marigolds have double flower heads similar to that of a carnation. Their petals produce in large clusters. They are commonly gold, orange, and and red. They can grow up to 5-feet tall depending on the variety.
How to Plant:
1. Loosen the soil with a trowel and hand shovel.
2. Mix a compost or manure into the native soil.
3. Sow seeds directly into the soil.
4. Space each plant 2-3 feet apart.
5. Water generously after planting.
How to Maintain:
1. Deadhead flowers to encourage large and quick blooms.
2. Marigolds do not require fertilization and actually do better in poor soil.
3. Keep the moisture level to a minimum, only water when extremely dry.
