Natural Organic plant foods provide nutrients for beautiful, vigorous plants, and since it’s a natural organic product, it helps build healthy soils by adding organic matter. If you are growing plants organically be certain to apply specially formulated organic plant food and compost.
Flowers and Vegetables: Apply compost 2-3 inches deep in the area. Work it into the native soil with a tiller or rake. Apply the organic plant food at time of planting and then repeat every six weeks during the growing season. Sprinkle in the planting bed or per plant. Work into the top 1-3 inches of soil on new plantings.
Trees, Shrubs, and Roses: For new plants or transplanting mix in one part compost and three parts native soil and place in the bottom of the hole. Apply the organic plant food in the spring after new foliage has appeared. Repeat every six weeks during the growing season, with the last feeding one month before the first expected frost. Spread the fertilizer evenly under the drip zone of each plant.
Potted Plants: Use the compost at one teaspoon/ every inch of pot diameter. Mix the compost in and water thoroughly. Apply organic plant food by sprinkling into the pot at the time of planting and then repeat every six weeks. Gloves are recommended when handling the plant food. Brush or wash fertilizer granules off of the leaves to prevent plant injury and water thoroughly after application.
